Tucson Attorney Barry W. Rorex Suspended for Abandoning Three Clients

PHOENIX – June 8, 2017 – Attorney Barry W. Rorex of Tucson was suspended for six months and one day after abandoning three clients.

In Count One, Rorex was hired to pursue a landlord/tenant claim for his client. Filing fees were paid by the client and a lawsuit was filed; however, he failed to serve the defendant. Rorex failed to communicate with his client and representation was terminated.

In Count Two, he was hired to assist his client with a landlord/tenant dispute. Rorex sued and served the defendant—then stopped communicating with his client. The case was dismissed by the court due to inactivity and Rorex moved to re-open the case.

In Count Three, Rorex met with his client who hired him to represent him in three cases. After the initial meeting and email exchange between him and his client, Rorex ceased all communication.

Rorex failed to respond to the State Bar's inquiry in all three counts and failed to appear at a telephonic hearing he requested.

Barry W. Rorex' six-month and one day suspension was ordered retroactive to Feb. 24, 2017. He was ordered to pay a total of $1,550 in restitution to three clients. He must also pay the State Bar of Arizona for costs and expenses incurred during all proceedings.

On May of 2015 I hired Mr. Rorex for legal advice and to represent me in filing a lawsuit. I paid him half of the fee that he requested, $250.0 for a demand letter and the court filing fees. Mr. Rorex and his secretary didn't answer my phone calls, e-mails and texts. Weeks and months have gone by without a word from them. I did some research to try and find out what was going on. To this day I still have not heard from them all I know is that he is no longer at the location that he was at when I hired him. I lost over
$1,200.00. Still waiting for him to call me.

I hired Mr. Rorex to represent a non profit charity in a foreclosure action. He accepted the retainer fee, however, he submitted nothing to the court to defend the action nor did he attend the Hearings. In my opinion I paid him to become my adversary and of course we lost because the judge had no other alternative.

Couldn't review the case law I cited in application to my civil problem that I cited without charging me money in his free consultation services for me so I could determine if his professional services could help me. Kirk

I strongly recommend NOT using this lawyer. Returned ONE call/email in 18 months. I have no idea what is going on in my case. Refuses to return calls or emails... or to return my money.
