NJ attorney Wilson had been previously covered here when he was DISBARRED. It is a nice update follow up when we can report the authorities took the next significant step and criminally indicted a lawyer for STEALING client monies. Far too many times the lawyers just get away with it.
New Jersey: Hunterdon Attorney Walter N. Wilson Indicted on Trust Fund Charges
FLEMINGTON, NJ – A Clinton Township attorney has been indicted by a Hunterdon County Grand Jury.
Walter N. Wilson, 63, was charged with two counts of third-degree misapplication of entrusted property, according to a press release from Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns, III.
Wilson issued a $31,168 check drawn from a trust fund, made payable to the Borough of High Bridge Tax Collector, for his own use, Kearns said, “which he knew was unlawful and involved a substantial risk of loss.”
The event is alleged to have happened July 17, 2013. Wilson had also fraudulently issued a $3,000 trust account check, for his own use, on July 5, according to the press release.
The state Supreme Court disbarred Wilson in 2016.
The press release doesn’t identify the trust fund.
Wilson is a well-known local attorney. He has served as a trustee of Hunterdon County Humane Animal Shelter, which was based in Alexandria Township, and handled some cases for it. The shelter has been closed for about two years.
