New Hampshire: Londonderry attorney Richard G. Sheehan  suspended after admitting to misusing funds

The state Supreme Court suspended Londonderry attorney Richard G. Sheehan last month after determining that he falsified a client signature and misused settlement funds.

Sheehan was immediately barred from practicing law in New Hampshire’s state courts and the U.S. District Court has begun proceedings to suspend him from practicing in that venue as well.

“Attorney Sheehan’s continued practice of law poses a substantial threat of serious harm to the public,” the Supreme Court wrote in its April 4 order.

As part of the agreement, Sheehan admitted to charges that he settled a personal injury claim without the client’s consent, signed the client’s name without authorization and used settlement funds for purposes unrelated to the client.

Sheehan did not immediately respond to a voicemail left at his law office.

The court additionally ordered him to provide proof that he had no power over client accounts and that he had notified his clients in writing of the suspension.
