Florida Attorney Adam Miller embezzled millions from the estates of elderly clients is Sentenced to 10-Years in Prison
SARASOTA COUNTY -- A Venice lawyer who defrauded his clients was sentenced to prison on Thursday.
According to the office of Ed Brodsky, the state attorney for the 12th Judicial Circuit, Judge Charles E. Roberts sentenced Adam Miller to 10 years in prison followed by 60 years of probation. He was also ordered to repay $2 million to his victims.
Miller embezzled money from the estates of his elderly clients, including some who were dead.
Miller’s law license was revoked by the Florida Supreme Court, a move “tantamount to disbarment,” the state court added. Prosecutors have said there may be up to 20 additional victims and hundreds of thousands of dollars still unaccounted for.
Miller, a former elected member of the Sarasota County Charter Review board, allegedly wrote and deposited high-dollar checks to himself from at least four of his clients’ accounts. Some of the transactions were made after they had died. He was arrested in June 2017.
His father, former attorney Raymond Miller, was arrested in 2010 and sentenced to four years in prison for stealing nearly $1 million from the estate of Holocaust survivor Beila Millet of North Port.
