Ex-Prosecutor Rings had already been fired and disciplined - now he is facing criminal charges. Good, this doesn't happen enough when it comes to lawyers.
MARIETTA, OHIO —
A county prosecutor in southeast Ohio is still on the job after a grand jury indicts him on sex-related misdemeanor charges.
Kevin Rings, 55, prosecutor for Washington County (Marietta), is accused of making inappropriate sexual contact in his office with a woman who was both a witness in one case and a defendant in another.
A Washington County grand jury on Thursday handed up indictments on one count of coercion, a second-degree misdemeanor, and one count of sexual imposition, a third-degree misdemeanor.
The incident is said to have occurred in July 2017, according to officials with the Ohio Attorney General's Special Prosecutions Section. The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation looked into the allegations.
County Commission president Ron Feathers told thenewscentercenter.com (which covers the Parkersburg, W. Va.-Marietta area) that Rings is presumed innocent and entitled to a trial and will keep his job unless and until he is convicted on the charges.
